August 2018

At the start of August I visited another club for the first time, namely the City Photographic Society (Peterborough) to give my talk "Judges, Love Them Or Hate Them?". A friendly lot with some recognisable faces from Peterborough Photographic Society. Our camera club was on its summer break this month, as are so many others, so it's been very quiet in terms of judging or giving talks. I visited the Vintage Sports Car Club's meeting at Prescott Hillclimb, something of a regular annual event for me now. Very hot, but I managed to struggle part way up the hill for some photographs. I also had a day out in Birmingham, visiting the canal system and taking some (hopefully) interesting street and architectural shots. I managed to fit in a few football matches, sending photographs to the clubs' websites. I visited Desborough FC, Rothwell Corinthians, and Stamford AFC. The East Midlands Monochrome Group continued to meet during this month, but the attendances are very low. I visited Boughton House but as no photography is allowed inside I did not take many images except of the park, using my Olympus TG4 compact camera. My printer seems to be giving a slight cast in very light greys so I've been getting new profiles from Fotospeed, but I haven't got round to trying them yet. And I acquired free of charge a Gossen Digisix lightmeter - another toy to play with!
